Chapter 5: Reclaiming the Crown

With the shadow of the Caldwell family permanently erased, it was time to rebuild. Caldwell Tech, the company I had helped build from a garage startup, was placed into receivership. Because my original contracts and investor decks carried my primary signature, the bankruptcy court awarded ninety percent of the company's remaining assets and intellectual property to me.

I officially rebranded the company as Aria Technologies, named after the soft music of the lullaby I sang to Sophie the night we survived the storm.

On the day of the company's grand relaunch, I stood in the main boardroom of our new headquarters, looking at the city skyline. The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with brilliant young engineers and ethical investors who believed in our new vision.

"The board is ready for you, Chairperson," a voice said from the doorway.

I turned to see Julian, looking incredibly sharp in a dark charcoal suit, holding a bouquet of fresh yellow roses—the international symbol of new beginnings.

"For luck," Julian smiled, handing me the flowers. "Not that you need it. You've already proven you can conquer the world."

"I couldn't have done it without you, Julian," I said honestly, stepping closer to him. The professional respect we shared over the past few months had slowly and naturally evolved into a deep, unspoken affection. "You didn't just help me win a lawsuit. You helped me reclaim my life."

Julian's gaze softened, his eyes locked onto mine with an intensity that made my heart skip a beat. "I didn't do anything but shine a light on what was already there, Grace. You are the resilient one. And if you'll let me, I’d like to stay by your side for the next chapters, too. Not just as your attorney."

I smiled, a genuine, joyful smile that reached my eyes. I reached out, my fingers wrapping around his. "I would really like that, Julian."
