Chapter 7 - The Lion's Wrath

The room erupted into chaos.

Julian and his mercenaries were momentarily blinded, disoriented by the concussive blast.

From the shattered balcony window, Gabriel Moretti swung into the room like a vengeful shadow. He didn't wait for his boots to hit the floor before he began firing.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

The high-caliber rounds tore through the two tactical mercenaries before they could even raise their weapons. They collapsed onto the floor with heavy thuds.

Julian gasped, stumbling back into the hallway, firing wildly behind him as he fled into the dark corridors of the mansion.

Gabriel didn't chase him immediately. He spun around, his face wild, covered in rain and blood, his eyes frantically scanning the dark room.

"Emma!" Gabriel roared, his voice cracking with sheer desperation. "EMMA!"

"I'm here!" Emma called out from behind the heavy oak wardrobe, where she had thrown herself to protect Lucia, using her own body as a shield.

Gabriel rushed over, dropping to his knees beside her. His hands were shaking violently as he reached out, touching her shoulders, her face, checking her for injuries.

"Are you hit? Is Lucia okay? Anthony?" Gabriel choked out, his eyes wide with frantic agony.

"We're okay! We're unhurt!" Emma cried out, pulling the crying infant close.

Gabriel looked into Emma's eyes, and the crushing weight of the truth collapsed upon him. He saw the horror in her gaze—she knew about Grace.

"Emma... I'm sorry... God help me, I am so sorry," Gabriel wept quietly, pressing his forehead against her shoulder, his massive frame shivering with guilt. "Your baby... it was my fault... my enemies—"

"Go get him, Gabriel," Emma interrupted, her voice dropping into an intense, fierce command. She placed a hand on his blood-stained cheek, looking directly into his eyes. "He killed Isabella. He killed my Grace. Do not let him leave this house alive."

Gabriel looked at her, seeing no weakness in her face—only the fierce, terrifying resolve of a mother demanding justice for her child.

A cold, lethal flame ignited in Gabriel’s soul.

"Mateo!" Gabriel barked as his chief enforcement officer dropped into the room through the balcony. "Guard Emma and my children with your life! If anyone approaches this room, kill them!"

Gabriel stood up, racked his slide, and walked out into the dark hallway to hunt down Julian Vance.
