Chapter 10 - The Feast of the Sun

One year later, the sun shone brightly over the sparkling waters of Long Island Sound.
The grand stone estate of the Moretti family was decorated with thousands of white roses, olive branches, and flowing silk banners. Music filled the warm summer air—not sterile classical music, but vibrant, joyful Sicilian folk songs played by a live band brought directly from Corleone.
Hundreds of guests gathered in the outdoor garden—famous chefs, city officials, local Bensonhurst neighbors, and employees from Bellafonte—all laughing, drinking fine wine, and celebrating together.
Salvatore Moretti sat in a velvet armchair near the altar, wearing a sharp black suit, his face beaming with boundless pride and joy, holding a glass of rich red wine.
Standing under a grand wooden arbor decorated with olive branches was Dominic. He looked insanely handsome in a bespoke black tuxedo, his eyes fixed down the white rose-petal aisle with intense, breathless longing.
The violin music swelled.
Walking down the aisle, holding a bouquet of white lilies and olive leaves, was Penelope.
She was breathtaking. Her exquisite ivory lace gown was custom-designed to celebrate every single curve of her full figure, draping gracefully over her hips, accentuating her small waist and radiant beauty. Her dark hair was styled in intricate braids woven with tiny white blossoms.
When she reached the altar, Dominic stepped forward, taking both of her hands in his. His eyes were filled with tears of pure, unadulterated devotion.
"You look like an angel, Penelope," Dominic whispered, his voice trembling with emotion.
"And you look like a crime boss who finally found his soul," Penelope teased softly, her hazel eyes shining with happiness.
The priest began the ceremony, reciting ancient vows of love, honor, and eternal loyalty in both English and Sicilian.
When it came time for the ring, Dominic slipped a breathtaking, six-carat cushion-cut diamond ring onto her finger.
"Six words changed my life," Dominic said, looking deep into her eyes, his voice echoing clearly across the sunlit garden. "You taught me that strength isn't built on fear, but on love, heritage, and family. Penelope, you are my home, my heart, and my queen."
Penelope smiled through tears of joy. "And you, Dominic, proved to me that the right man will never ask me to hide in the back."
"I pronounce you husband and wife!" the priest declared joyfully. "Mancia, bevi, e ama!"
Dominic pulled Penelope into his broad arms, dipping her low as he pressed his lips against hers in a deep, passionate kiss that sent a thunderous roar of cheers and applause echoing across the sea.
Salvatore stood up from his chair, raising his glass high into the blue sky.
