Chapter 10 - A New Blueprint

Two years after the night Ethan found his wife sleeping in the maid’s room with two packed suitcases, the converted waterfront warehouse was finally complete.

The industrial shell had been transformed into an architectural triumph of light, timber, and glass. The living space flowed seamlessly into Claire’s design studio, where massive drafting tables sat bathed in the golden glow of the afternoon sun. There were no locked doors in this house. No secret rooms, no hidden ledgers, and no inherited ghosts waiting in the shadows.

On a warm Saturday morning, Ethan sat at the large oak dining table—the same one they had brought into the Stamford apartment years ago—sipping coffee while the morning breeze swept in through the open warehouse doors.

Claire walked out of the studio carrying a fresh roll of blueprints, her hair caught up in its familiar clip, wearing a soft linen shirt. She paused by the table, leaning down to drop a kiss on the top of Ethan’s head before setting the blueprints down.

“What are those?” Ethan asked, looking up with a smile.

“Our next project,” Claire said, unrolling the crisp white paper across the wood.

Ethan leaned in, tracing the clean, bold lines of an expansion project—a community greenhouse and public garden designed to anchor the waterfront district they had helped revitalize.

“Looks ambitious,” Ethan said, his eyes dancing with affection.

“It is,” Claire replied, sitting down opposite him and pouring herself a cup of coffee. She looked around the sunlit, open-plan home—a space built entirely by their own hands, anchored by mutual respect, absolute trust, and an unbreakable love. “Are you ready for it?”

Ethan reached across the table, taking her hand in his. “With you? Always.”
