Chapter 9 - The Vow in Red Roses

Three months later.
The spring sun shone brightly over Lake Michigan, painting the water in brilliant shades of sapphire and gold.
The gardens of the Castelli estate were transformed into a breathtaking sanctuary. Thousands of deep red roses—just as Nonna Rosa had demanded on that wild morning three months ago—lined the white marble aisle stretching across the manicured lawn.
Over three hundred guests filled the white chairs: union leaders, city officials, local residents from Harper’s old neighborhood in Bridgeport, and the entire Castelli organization.
At the altar stood Dominic Castelli, looking impossibly handsome in a bespoke black tuxedo, his amber eyes fixed on the glass doors of the mansion.
Beside him stood Matteo as his best man, and on the front row sat Nonna Rosa, weeping tears of pure joy into a lace handkerchief.
The string quartet began to play a soft, sweeping melody.
The doors opened.
Harper Russo stepped onto the marble aisle, walking arm-in-arm with her father, Thomas.
She was breathtaking. She wore a custom lace gown with a long, sweeping train, her dark hair crowned with a delicate diamond tiara. Her eyes were fixed entirely on Dominic, glowing with a love so deep and fierce it brought a hush over the entire crowd.
Thomas walked his daughter to the altar, took her hand, and placed it gently into Dominic’s massive, scarred palm.
“Take care of my girl, Dominic,” Thomas said quietly.
“With my life, sir,” Dominic replied softly.
They turned to face Father Santini, the elderly priest Nonna Rosa had summoned three months prior.
The ceremony was beautiful, ancient, and solemn. But when the time came for the vows, Dominic took both of Harper’s hands in his, looking down into her eyes with an intensity that made the rest of the world fade away.
“Harper,” Dominic said, his deep voice carrying clearly over the gentle breeze of the lake. “You entered my life as a trap set by my enemies. But you became my salvation. I give you my name, my strength, and my absolute protection. As long as I draw breath, no harm will ever touch you, and no shadow will ever cross your door.”
Tears shined in Harper’s eyes as she smiled up at him.
“Dominic,” she said softly, her voice filled with unwavering strength. “I walked into your room exhausted and terrified. But I found a man who fought for my family, protected my honor, and showed me what true loyalty means. I give you my heart, my life, and my love, forever.”
“By the power vested in me,” Father Santini announced, smiling warmly, “I now pronounce you husband and wife. Don Castelli... you may kiss your bride.”

Dominic didn't wait. He pulled Harper into his arms, dipping her slightly, and pressed his lips against hers in a passionate, deep kiss that made the entire crowd erupt into thunderous applause.
Nonna Rosa cheered loudly, waving her lace handkerchief in the air.
