Chapter 10 - Sovereign

Three years later.

The Mediterranean sun warmed the white stone deck of the Sovereign—a two-hundred-foot superyacht floating gracefully in the azure waters off the coast of Monaco.

The sea was like a mirror, sparkling under the clear blue sky. On the main deck, high-society guests, international diplomats, and tech founders gathered, enjoying champagne and classical music played by a private string quartet.

I stood at the bow of the yacht, dressed in a sweeping indigo silk gown that caught the gentle sea breeze.

Beside me stood Julian Thorne—a brilliant, silver-tempered British philanthropist and aerospace pioneer who had spent the last two years working alongside Sterling Dynamics on clean energy satellite systems. He was a man of immense intellect, quiet strength, and deep, unwavering respect for my work.

"A far cry from the snow of Manhattan, isn't it?" Julian said smoothly, handing me a glass of vintage champagne.

"It's perfect," I smiled, looking out at the sparkling horizon.

Julian looked at me, his deep blue eyes filled with soft, genuine warmth.

"I watched your speech at the United Nations summit yesterday, Alyssa," he said softly. "The way you handled the international trade delegation was magnificent. You command a room without ever needing to raise your voice."

I smiled softly, taking a sip of my champagne. "I spent a long time learning that real power doesn't scream, Julian. Real power simply decides where the floor lies."

"And what about your floor now?" he asked gently, leaning his forearm against the teak railing beside me. "Is there room on this ship for a man who knows how to walk beside you, rather than ahead of you?"

I looked at Julian—a man who had never tried to diminish my shine, who had never asked me to step back, and who viewed my strength not as a threat to his manhood, but as a source of awe.

"There's plenty of room, Julian," I said, a genuine, radiant smile spreading across my face. "As long as you remember that I captain my own ship."

Julian laughed—a warm, rich sound that blended with the gentle lap of the Mediterranean waves. "I wouldn't have it any other way, my Queen."

Behind us, Clara stepped onto the bow deck, holding a tablet, her face calm and relaxed.

"A quick update from New York, Alyssa," Clara said softly.

"Go ahead," I replied without turning around.

"The final legal proceedings regarding Prescott Global's remaining international shell assets have concluded," Clara reported. "The name Prescott has been legally erased from every commercial registry in North America and Europe. The foundation you established in its place has just funded three thousand university scholarships for young women in STEM."

"Good," I said smoothly. "Let the name be forgotten."

"And your afternoon schedule?" Clara asked with a faint smile.

I turned around, looking out over the magnificent gathering of brilliant minds, true friends, and loving family aboard my yacht.

My father was standing near the stern, sharing a laugh with Julian’s father. My mother’s old friends were relaxing under the sun. My life was whole, vast, and overflowing with real, unshakeable strength.

I took Julian's arm, slipping my hand into his, feeling the steady, warm strength of a man who belonged beside me.

"Cancel the afternoon schedule, Clara," I commanded softly, raising my glass toward the warm golden sun. "Today, we simply enjoy the sea."

The string quartet began to play a beautiful, triumphant symphony that floated out over the open waters, carrying the sound of my laughter into a bright, boundless future where no one would ever dare ask me to give up my seat again.
