Chapter 9 - The Sovereign Heir

Six months later.

The summer sun shone brightly over the city of Chicago, illuminating the grand reopening of Bennett-Vale Logistics & Development Corporation.

In the grand ballroom of the Drake Hotel, hundreds of business leaders, politicians, news reporters, and community organizers gathered for the announcement of the largest corporate merger in Illinois history.

At the podium stood Emma Bennett.

She wore a stunning emerald-green dress, her dark hair falling in soft waves over her shoulders. She looked authoritative, brilliant, and breathtakingly confident.

"Today," Emma spoke into the microphone, her voice echoing clearly through the packed ballroom, "we launch a new chapter. Bennett-Vale Development will no longer build luxury towers using exploited labor. Fifty percent of our annual profits will now fund public housing, pediatric care centers, and educational trusts for single mothers across Chicago."

The room erupted into roaring applause. Cameras flashed continuously.

Sitting at the front table directly below the stage was Dominic Vale.

On his lap sat eight-month-old Grace, wearing a tiny yellow dress, clapping her small hands happily at the noise. Dominic held her securely, a look of profound, unshakeable pride filling his dark eyes as he watched Emma speak.

When Emma finished her speech, she walked down the stairs to thunderous applause, walking straight to their table.

Dominic stood up, holding Grace in one arm, and wrapped his free arm gently around Emma’s waist, kissing her softly on the lips right in front of every camera in Chicago.

The press gasped, flashing photos of the city's most powerful new power couple.

"You were incredible," Dominic whispered against her ear, his voice full of warmth.

"We did it, Dominic," Emma smiled, tears of joy in her eyes as she looked at her daughter, who was happily babbling and grabbing at Dominic’s silk tie. "We gave her the world."
