Chapter 8 - A PROMISE IN THE SUN
“Alejandro…” Valeria breathed, her hands flying to her mouth as tears of pure happiness welled in her eyes.
Alejandro opened the velvet box. Inside rested a breathtaking ring—a glowing, cushion-cut yellow diamond set in a delicate band of platinum, glistening like sunshine under the tropical sky.
“Valeria,” Alejandro said, his voice deep, steady, and rich with emotion. “Three months ago, I met a brave woman on a flight who rested her head on my shoulder in the middle of her darkest storm. Since that day, every moment I have spent with you and Ana Sofía has brought meaning, warmth, and true joy into my world.”
He looked up into her eyes, his expression completely open and vulnerable.
“I don't offer you my wealth or my status, Valeria,” Alejandro continued softly. “I offer you my heart, my complete devotion, and my promise that I will stand beside you, honor you, and protect you and our daughter for every single day of my life. Will you do me the absolute honor of marrying me?”
Valeria didn't hesitate for a single second.
She dropped to her knees beside him on the wooden deck, throwing her arms around his neck, pulling him into a tight, passionate embrace.
“Yes!” Valeria wept tears of joy against his neck. “Yes, Alejandro! A thousand times, yes!”
Alejandro let out a joyful, relieved laugh, holding her tightly against his chest before pulling back to slide the yellow diamond ring onto her finger. The ring fit perfectly, sparkling brightly against her golden skin.

Ana Sofía crawled over, letting out a delighted baby squeal, and clambered onto Alejandro’s lap, trying to grab the velvet box. Alejandro laughed, picking up the toddler and holding both Valeria and Ana Sofía in his arms as the warm Oaxacan breeze rustled the palm leaves above them.
“Looks like she approves,” Alejandro smiled, kissing Ana Sofía’s forehead before leaning in to press his lips against Valeria’s in a long, sweet, passionate kiss that sealed their future forever.
