Chapter 10 - The True Home

One year later.
The private garden behind the Croft estate was transformed into a paradise of white gardenias and soft candlelight.
Forty people sat in the elegant wooden rows—not corrupt politicians or fearful operatives, but real friends, doctors from the clinic, foundation workers, and staff members who had become like family.
I walked down the aisle in a simple, timeless white silk gown, my bouquet held tightly in my hands.
Standing at the altar was Julian, looking so impossibly handsome in his black tuxedo that my breath caught. And sitting right beside him, wearing a bow tie attached to his collar, was Buster, sitting proudly as our ring bearer.
When my hand reached Julian’s, he took it gently, lifting it to his lips to kiss my knuckles before we faced the officiant.
“We are gathered here today,” the officiant spoke softly, “not just to unite two lives, but to celebrate a love born out of pure courage, compassion, and unwavering loyalty.”
We exchanged our vows—promises built not on power or leverage, but on deep respect, protection, and unconditional love.
“I pronounce you husband and wife,” the officiant announced with a radiant smile. “You may kiss the bride.”
Julian pulled me gently into his arms, dipping me slightly as he kissed me deeply, to the loud, joyous cheers of our guests and Buster’s happy barks.
Later that night, after the dancing and toasts had concluded, Julian and I walked up to the master balcony overlooking the tranquil lake.
The cool night air washed over us as I rested my head against Julian’s chest, his strong arms wrapped securely around my waist. Below us, through the open conservatory doors, Buster was fast asleep on his big velvet bed, peaceful and content.
“Are you happy, my love?” Julian whispered, kissing the top of my head.

I looked at the sparkling ring on my finger, then turned my head to look up at the man who had changed my entire world—the man who had stepped through a service entrance and rescued me from the darkness.
“I’m home,” I whispered softly, smiling as I pulled his lips down to mine. “I’m finally home.”
