Chapter 7 - The Sky Belongs to Everyone

Two months later.
The morning sun broke over the tarmac of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, bathing the sleek blue-and-silver aircraft of Atlantic Crest Airlines in golden light.
At Gate A12, a massive grand-opening ceremony was taking place.
Hundreds of airline employees, pilots, flight attendants, mechanics, and news reporters were gathered around a newly redesigned boarding terminal.
On the main stage stood Evelyn Hart. She wore a simple navy blue blazer, white trousers, and her father’s platinum Patek Philippe watch.
Beside her stood a ten-year-old girl named Lily and her mother—the same little girl who had been sitting in the back of the shuttle two months ago, clutching her stuffed rabbit while Evelyn was being insulted.
Evelyn stepped up to the microphone, looking out over the crowd of employees.
“Two months ago,” Evelyn spoke, her voice warm and powerful, echoing clearly across the terminal, “Atlantic Crest Airlines lost its way. We allowed wealth, arrogance, and privilege to dictate how we treated human beings. We forgot the most fundamental truth of aviation.”
She looked down at little Lily, holding the young girl’s hand gently.
“The sky doesn't care what clothes you wear,” Evelyn said, her eyes shining with emotion. “It doesn't care about the price of your watch, the brand of your shoes, or how much money you have in your bank account. In the air, we are all human beings traveling toward the same horizon.”
The crowd erupted into thunderous applause.
“Today,” Evelyn continued, “we are launching the Richard Hart Aviation Heritage Program. From this day forward, ten percent of every first-class ticket sold on Atlantic Crest Airlines will go directly toward funding commercial flight school scholarships for underprivileged youth, single parents, and working-class families across America.”
The applause doubled in volume. Flight attendants in the crowd wiped tears of pride from their eyes.
Evelyn took a giant pair of silver ribbon-cutting scissors and handed one handle to little Lily.
“Together, Lily?” Evelyn smiled.
May you like
“Together!” Lily giggled happily.
With a sharp snip, the bright red ribbon fell to the polished floor, officially ushering in a new era for Atlantic Crest Airlines.
