Chapter 10 - A New Dawn
Six months later, the sun rose over Arthur Vance’s estate, casting a warm, golden glow across the rolling green lawns.
Sarah stood on the back patio, holding a mug of warm coffee. She no longer needed the cane; her leg had healed beautifully, leaving only a faint, thin scar that she wore not as a mark of shame, but as a badge of honor.
Emma came running out of the house, her pink pajamas fluttering in the morning breeze. She was laughing, her face bright and free of the fear that had shadowed it for so long.
"Mommy! Look! A butterfly!" Emma pointed to a bright yellow monarch fluttering near the rose bushes.
Sarah smiled, kneeling down to hug her daughter tight. "It’s beautiful, sweetheart. Just like you."
Arthur walked out onto the patio, holding a tray of fresh fruit and pastries. He looked younger now, the heavy burden of worry finally lifted from his shoulders.
"The final paperwork arrived from the court this morning, Sarah," Arthur said, his eyes crinkling with a warm smile. "The divorce is finalized. Your name is officially restored. You are Sarah Vance again."
Sarah stood up, looking out over the beautiful, open landscape. The air smelled of wet grass, fresh coffee, and the sweet, clean scent of a new beginning.
