Chapter 9 - The New Foundation

Two years later.

The headquarters of Bennett Technologies stood tall in the heart of Manhattan’s financial district—a beacon of ethical innovation and modern architectural elegance.

I stood in the top-floor executive suite, reviewing the company’s annual impact report. Bennett Tech had provided over $50 million in low-interest loans and technology grants to female-led tech startups across the country. The company had become one of the most respected tech firms in North America, renowned not just for its profitability, but for its unyielding integrity.

The door to my office opened softly, and Julian walked in, holding a small box of bakery pastries and leading a bouncing, three-year-old Noah by the hand.

“Mommy!” Noah squealed, running across the hardwood floor with his little arms outstretched.

I dropped to my knees, catching him in a warm hug and spinning him around as he burst into ringing laughter. He was healthy, vibrant, and filled with endless joy—completely unburdened by the dark circumstances of his arrival into the world.

“Look what Dr. Julian bought me!” Noah declared proudly, pointing to a small strawberry tart inside the box.

“Dr. Julian is spoiling you,” I chuckled, standing up and greeting Julian with a warm kiss on the cheek.

Julian smiled, placing a gentle hand on my waist. Over the past two years, Julian had become an irreplaceable part of our lives. He was the quiet anchor I had always deserved—a partner who celebrated my success, cherished my son, and walked beside me as an equal.

“Are you ready for the ceremony?” Julian asked softly, looking at me with eyes full of pride.

“Almost,” I replied, taking a moment to look at the three of us reflected in the floor-to-ceiling glass window.

Today was the official opening of the Noah Bennett Children’s Hospital Wing at St. Matthew’s—a state-of-the-art neonatal care facility funded entirely by Bennett Technologies to ensure that premature infants and mothers in critical condition received the finest care in the world, free of charge.
