Chapter 10 - The Unbroken Horizon

That evening, as the stars began to twinkle across the vast, dark velvet sky over the ocean, I walked down to the edge of the wooden dock holding Grace in my arms.

The water was smooth as glass, reflecting the silver light of a bright full moon. The ocean breeze blew softly through my hair, carrying the clean, crisp scent of salt and pine.

Grace rested her head tiredly against my shoulder, her thumb tucked softly into her mouth, her long dark eyelashes fluttering as she looked up at the stars.

"Look, Mommy," Grace whispered sleepily, pointing a tiny finger at a bright star shining directly above us. "Is that a diamond in the sky?"

I held my daughter close against my heart—the same heart that had once been broken, shivering, and soaked in dirty water on a cold dining room floor three years ago.

"Yes, my sweet girl," I whispered softly, kissing her warm temple. "That is our star. A reminder that no matter how dark the night gets, the light inside you will always shine through."

I looked out at the vast, unbroken horizon stretching into the quiet night.

The pain of the past was gone, washed away by the tides of time, justice, and truth. The empire I had built was no longer just a wall of protection—it was a legacy of love, strength, and grace that would guide my daughter for generations to come.

I took a deep, peaceful breath of the sea air, holding my daughter tight against my chest, and smiled at the beautiful, boundless future waiting for us under the stars.
