Chapter 6 - THE COURTHOUSE RECKONING
On Monday morning at 8:30 AM, the Wayne County Courthouse was buzzing with activity. Local journalists, legal observers, and corporate representatives filled the hallway outside Courtroom 402. The story of a high-flying real estate executive brought down by a forensic auditor wife after his family abused her adopted son had become the talk of the city's business elite.
Parker, Alana, and Ellie arrived together. They looked battered and humiliated. Parker wore an ill-fitting off-the-rack suit—his tailored clothes had been locked in his company office. Alana walked with a cane, attempting to look frail and victimized, while Ellie huddled behind them, terrified of the news cameras flashing in the corridor.
Moments later, the double doors at the end of the hall swung open.
Clarissa walked in, flanked by Arthur Vance and Marcus Brody. She wore a tailored cream-colored suit, her hair perfectly styled, radiating an aura of complete, unshakeable power. She didn't look at Parker or his family. She walked past them as if they were invisible, taking her seat at the plaintiff's table inside the courtroom.
At 9:00 AM sharp, Judge Marcus Sterling—a formidable, iron-willed jurist known for his zero-tolerance policy toward domestic financial abuse—took the bench.
"Court is in session," Judge Sterling announced, his voice echoing off the high wood-paneled walls. "We are here for the emergency preliminary injunction hearing in Clarissa Bailey v. Parker Bailey, et al."
Parker’s court-appointed public defense attorney, a stressed young lawyer named Michael Ross, stood up first. "Your Honor, my clients request an immediate dismissal of the asset freeze orders. My client, Parker Bailey, has been unlawfully suspended from his employment and stripped of his personal savings without due process, based on domestic allegations that have been wildly exaggerated by the plaintiff."
Judge Sterling looked over his reading glasses at Ross. "Exaggerated, Mr. Ross? Let's examine the evidence submitted by the plaintiff."
Judge Sterling tapped his computer screen. The courtroom speakers hummed to life.
Once again, the cruel, sharp voices of Alana and Parker echoed clearly through the courtroom:
“He knows his place... I keep the brat locked in the utility room whenever the neighbors walk by...”
“Once Clarissa signs the estate management papers... she’ll unknowingly assign equal ownership of the country house to me...”
Alana closed her eyes, ducking her head in shame as several reporters in the gallery gasped.
Arthur Vance slowly stood up from the plaintiff’s table, leaning his hands flat on the wooden podium.
"Your Honor," Vance said smoothly. "The evidence demonstrates a clear, systemic pattern of calculated fraud, forgery, and intentional child endangerment. The defendant, Parker Bailey, conspired with his mother and sister to emotionally break my client, exploit her adopted child, and illegally convert her separate pre-marital real estate into collateral for a fraudulent shell corporation."
Vance pulled a new document from his leather briefcase. "And today, Your Honor, we are submitting Document Exhibit F: A certified bank transaction record proving that Defendant Alana Bailey personally accepted $15,000 from Parker’s illegal Apex Horizons account as payment for her participation in keeping my client’s son isolated at the country house."
Alana jumped to her feet, dropping her cane. "That's a lie! That was a gift from my son! He gave me that money for my medical bills!"
"Order in the court!" Judge Sterling slammed his gavel down with a sharp crack. "Mrs. Bailey, sit down and remain quiet, or I will have you removed and held in contempt!"
Alana collapsed back into her chair, sobbing hysterically into her handkerchief.
Judge Sterling reviewed the bank records for two silent, tense minutes. When he raised his head, his expression was cold as ice.
"This court finds the actions of the defendants not only legally indefensible, but morally reprehensible," Judge Sterling declared.
"I am issuing an immediate, permanent injunction against Parker Bailey, Alana Bailey, and Ellie Bailey. The temporary freeze orders on all assets associated with Apex Horizons are made permanent pending final criminal adjudication."

Judge Sterling looked directly at Parker. "Furthermore, the court grants Plaintiff Clarissa Bailey full, sole, unencumbered ownership of the Detroit townhome and the country house. Defendant Parker Bailey is ordered to vacate all shared marital claims immediately and pay full legal costs for these proceedings."
Judge Sterling slammed his gavel down. "And I am referring these proceedings directly to the District Attorney's office for immediate criminal prosecution on charges of felony forgery, conspiracy, and child endangerment."
