Chapter 7 - The Final Showdown at the Docks

The final piece of evidence needed to secure Marcone’s life sentence was a encrypted server hidden inside a shipping container at Pier 42—Marcone’s primary smuggling hub.

At midnight, Leo led a private strike team to the docks to retrieve the server before Marcone’s men could destroy it.

The rain beat down relentlessly against the rusted metal containers as Leo and Silas moved through the maze of steel crates.

"Server secured," Silas confirmed, holding up a sleek black hard drive. "This has every offshore account, every bribe payment, and every hit order Marcone ever signed."

Suddenly, floodlights snapped on around the perimeter!

"VANCE!" a harsh, gravelly voice echoed over the loudspeakers.

Raymond Marcone stood on a raised crane platform fifty feet above, surrounded by a dozen snipers. His face was twisted in psychotic rage.

"You thought you could walk away, Leo?!" Marcone roared over the sound of the rain. "You thought you could take those girls and live happily ever after?! I built this city! You die here tonight!"

"Cover!" Leo yelled, diving behind a steel container as a hail of sniper fire tore through the night!

The docks erupted into a furious firefight! Vance soldiers traded fire with Marcone’s men in the blinding rain!

Leo fired with deadly precision, taking down three snipers on the upper catwalks, but Marcone’s forces were pushing forward, pinning Leo’s team against the water!

Suddenly, a loud, mechanical screech echoed through the yard!

A massive forty-ton yard crane swung around, its heavy steel hook slamming directly into Marcone’s sniper platform, sending three gunmen plunging into the dark waters below!

At the controls of the crane was Silas, who had scaled the ladder under heavy fire to clear the high ground!

With the snipers eliminated, Leo broke cover, charging up the metal staircase toward Marcone’s platform!

Marcone pulled a sidearm, firing wildly, but Leo ducked under the shots, tackled Marcone to the metal decking, and disarmed him in a single, fluid strike!

Leo held Marcone by his collar over the edge of the fifty-foot platform, the stormy river churning beneath them.

"This is for my wife," Leo growled, his hand tightening around Marcone’s throat. "This is for ten years of pain."

Marcone choked, his eyes wide with absolute terror. "Do it... kill me, Vance! Show your daughters what a monster you are!"

Leo stared at the terrified man. He heard the echo of Cora’s voice in his mind: Papa, you look tired.

Slowly, Leo pulled Marcone back from the edge, slamming him hard onto the steel decking.

"No," Leo said flatly, pulling out a pair of heavy steel handcuffs and snapping them around Marcone’s wrists. "Dying is too easy for you, Raymond. You're going to spend the rest of your life in a six-by-eight concrete cell thinking about the family you failed to destroy."

Federal sirens wailed in the distance, blue and red lights flashing through the rain as dozens of FBI vehicles stormed Pier 42 to take custody of Marcone and his entire syndicate.
