Chapter 6 - The Emergency Meeting

The next morning, the grand estate near the lake was transformed into a tactical war room. The marble floors were trodden by heavy boots as Dante’s senior captains stood around the mahogany desk. Bella sat in a leather armchair in the corner, a warm blanket wrapped around her shoulders, a cup of Isabella’s tea in her hands.

"The Moretti family is testing our boundaries, Dante," Matteo said, pointing to a map of the city’s south side. "They think because you’re pouring millions into these public trusts, you’ve gone soft. They think the girl is your weak spot."

Dante stood by the window, his eyes fixed on the gray lake. His expression was a mask of stone, but the absolute stillness of his posture was more terrifying than any shout.

"They think she's a weak spot because they don't know her," Dante said quietly, his voice carrying a dangerous weight. "She chased two of their soldiers down an alley with a fire extinguisher."

A few of the captains exchanged surprised glances, a quiet respect entering their eyes as they looked at the quiet girl in the corner.

"But they're right about one thing," Dante continued, turning around to face the room. His gaze locked onto Bella, his dark eyes burning with an unshakeable resolve. "If they touch her again, I will tear their empire down brick by brick. Matteo, double the detail at her apartment. And tell the Morettis that I am calling a sit-down. Friday night. At the old exchange house."

Isabella Romano walked into the room, her hand resting gently on Bella’s head. "My son is right, Bella. You are part of this family now, whether you like it or not. And the Romanos do not allow their family to be threatened."
