Chapter 10 - A New Dawn

Six months later, the grounds of the Rossi estate were bathed in the golden warmth of late spring.
The white roses along the stone terrace were in full bloom. The fountains played a cheerful melody in the courtyard, and the dark, oppressive shadows that had haunted the mansion for half a decade were finally gone.
Inside the private library, the rolling ladder stood neatly in the corner. The books were dusted, the papers on Leo's desk were organized with military precision, and the fire in the hearth crackled merrily.
Clare sat at a small oak desk near the window, reviewing architectural blueprints for a new charitable foundation funded by the Rossi estate—one dedicated to supporting hospice care and underprivileged families across Boston and New York. She was no longer wearing a maid's uniform; instead, she wore a simple, elegant emerald-green dress that brought out the warmth in her eyes.
The library door opened quietly.
Leo walked in, holding two cups of steaming coffee. He set one down on her desk, leaning his hip against the edge of wood, looking down at her with a gentle, affectionate smile that only she was privileged to see.
"You're working too hard," Leo teased softly.
"Someone has to keep this library in order," Clare retorted with a playful grin, looking up at him. "Otherwise, Mr. Rossi might accuse me of being lazy."
"Never," Leo murmured, reaching out to gently tuck a stray lock of hair behind her ear.
Downstairs, Elena Rossi sat in the sunroom, laughing with Tommy—who was visiting briefly from California, where he now managed a thriving, legal logistics company—while the afternoon sunlight flooded the grand estate.

The secrets were buried. The traitors were gone. The family was whole again.
And as Clare softly began to hum an old Calabrian lullaby while organizing the papers on her desk, Leo didn't feel grief or anger. He only felt warmth, peace, and the absolute certainty that the sparrow had finally flown home to stay.
