Chapter 8 - The Syndicate Cleansed

By sunrise, the grand Connecticut estate looked peaceful once more, but beneath the surface, a complete restructuring of the criminal underworld had taken place.

In the mahogany-paneled dining room, the senior capos of the Rossi syndicate sat in absolute, reverent silence. On the central table lay Franco Vance’s confession, recorded on encrypted audio and backed by financial records proving his embezzlement, treason, and kidnapping of Elena Rossi.

Leo stood at the head of the table, flanked by two armed guards. His mother sat beside him in a comfortable armchair, wrapped in a cashmere shawl, drinking hot tea. She looked frail, but her eyes possessed a sharp, unyielding authority that commanded immediate respect from every hardened criminal in the room.

"Franco Vance is gone," Leo announced, his voice carrying effortlessly across the silent room. "His assets have been seized by the family. Anyone here who wishes to challenge my leadership or question my mother's return may speak now."

Not a single capo raised his head. They had seen the dossiers. They had heard the recordings. More importantly, they had seen Leo rise from grief into an apex predator who had reclaimed his birthright in a single night.

"The past five years of lies are buried with him," Elena spoke up, her voice steady and clear. "From this day forward, the Rossi family operates with transparency, strength, and absolute loyalty to the bloodline. Meeting adjourned."

As the capos filed out of the room in single-file precision, Leo turned his attention to the doorway where two people stood waiting nervously: Tommy and Clare.

Tommy looked cleaned up, wearing a simple borrowed jacket, his bruises healing under proper medical care. Clare stood beside him, clutching her hands together, waiting for her final verdict.

Leo walked over to them, a genuine, warm smile finally breaking through the hard lines of his face.
