Chapter 10 - The Empire Remade

That night, the full weight of the Moretti family descended upon Brooklyn.

Antonio Falco and twenty of his men had broken into Warehouse Four on the East River, expecting an empty building and an absent boss. Instead, as the heavy steel roll-up doors shut behind them, the bright floodlights of the warehouse slammed on.

Standing in the center of the concrete floor was Dominic Moretti, dressed in a custom black suit, surrounded by forty heavily armed Moretti soldiers.

Falco’s eyes went wide with pure terror. "Moretti... you were supposed to be in Pennsylvania!"

Dominic stepped forward, his leather shoes clicking sharply against the concrete. His face was cold, merciless, and terrifying.

"I was in Pennsylvania, Antonio," Dominic said softly, pulling a pair of dark leather gloves onto his hands. "I was burying a noble woman. And now... I am going to bury a dog."

Before Falco could draw his weapon, the warehouse erupted into absolute, decisive action. Within ten minutes, the Falco family’s threat in Brooklyn was completely eliminated. The word spread through the five boroughs like wildfire: Dominic Moretti was back, stronger, more ruthless, and entirely unchallenged.

Six months later.

The grand courtyard of the Moretti Manhattan estate was transformed into a breathtaking garden filled with white roses, twinkling lights, and soft music.

Over two hundred guests attended—powerful politicians, high-ranking business leaders, and hardened mafia Capos—all sitting in respectful silence as a priest stood under a floral archway.

Sophia walked down the aisle in a stunning white silk gown, her arm tucked securely into her father’s arm. Henry Carter walked proudly beside his daughter, wearing his finest suit, his eyes filled with happiness.

Standing at the altar was Dominic Moretti, looking impossibly handsome, his dark eyes fixed entirely on his bride. Beside him stood Marco Bellini, holding the wedding rings.

And running down the aisle ahead of Sophia was seven-year-old Lily, dressed in a tiny white flower-girl dress, tossing rose petals onto the carpet, holding Mr. Whiskers under her arm.

When Henry reached the altar, he placed Sophia’s hand into Dominic’s.

"Take care of her, son," Henry whispered.

"With my life," Dominic replied.

The priest spoke the ancient words of commitment, but the true vow had already been made months ago in a quiet Pennsylvania bedroom.

When Dominic lifted the veil and kissed his wife, the courtyard erupted into deafening applause. Capos lowered their heads in genuine respect, politicians smiled, and Henry Carter wept tears of joyful peace.

Later that evening, as the celebration continued beneath the stars, Dominic stood near the edge of the marble terrace overlooking the city lights. Sophia walked up behind him, wrapping her arms around his waist and leaning her head against his back.

Dominic turned around, pulling her into his arms and kissing her forehead.

"What are you thinking about?" she asked softly.

"I was thinking about a little girl who walked into my foyer with a crayon drawing," Dominic smiled, pulling a folded sheet of paper from his tuxedo jacket.

Sophia gasped softly. The paper was worn, but perfectly preserved—Lily’s original drawing of the three stick figures under the bright yellow sun.

Dominic looked down at his wife, then across the lawn where Lily was playing happily with Marco, who was letting her wear his oversized coat.

"A three-year-old toddler told me her mommy needed a boyfriend," Dominic whispered, pulling Sophia close against his heart. "She thought she was fixing a weekend. She ended up saving my soul."

Sophia smiled, pressing her lips against his chin as the city lights sparkled around them—a golden, unbreakable empire built on love, honor, and a promise that changed everything forever.
