Chapter 10 - The Gate Opened

Six months later.

The spring sun shone bright over the Kincaid Estate. The tall wrought-iron gates at the entrance stood wide open, draped in white roses and lush greenery.

Inside the grand gardens, music played softly as guests gathered under a canopy of blooming cherry blossoms.

Aiden and Lucas, wearing matching mini-tuxedos, stood proudly at the altar beside their father. Miles looked handsome, his smile warm and completely devoid of the icy demeanor that once defined him.

The string quartet began to play a soft melody. Down the aisle came Marina, stunning in a simple, elegant lace wedding gown. She held a bouquet of white lilies—the very flowers she loved.

When she reached the altar, Miles took her hands in his.

"We met at a closed gate," Miles said in his vows, his voice rich with emotion. "You were broken, exhausted, and fleeing from darkness. I thought I was saving you that night, Marina. But the truth is, you were the one who saved us. You opened the gates of my heart when I had locked them away forever."

Marina smiled through joyful tears. "I searched for a safe place to hide, Miles. But in your arms, and in the love of our boys, I found something better than safety. I found home."

The minister smiled warmly. "By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. Miles, you may kiss your bride."

Miles pulled Marina close, dipping her back gently as he kissed her to the loud cheers and applause of their family and friends. Aiden and Lucas jumped up and down, cheering louder than anyone.

Later that evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon in shades of orange and pink, the family of four walked together down the stone drive toward the front entrance.

Lucas held Marina's left hand, while Aiden held her right. Miles walked beside her, his arm wrapped securely around her waist.

They stopped at the open wrought-iron gate where Marina had once collapsed in despair.

Miles looked down at his wife, a playful, loving smirk on his face. "So, Mrs. Kincaid. What do you think when you look at this gate now?"

Marina looked at the open road ahead, then at the bright, warm lights of the mansion behind them, and finally into the eyes of the man who loved her.

"I think," Marina whispered, leaning her head on his shoulder, "that the gates are finally open, and we are finally home."
