Chapter 4 - The Summit at the Waterfront

The rain had returned to New York, heavy and unrelenting, turning the asphalt of the Red Hook shipping docks into a slick black mirror.
It was 11:00 p.m. on Friday night.
Inside an abandoned brick coffee warehouse overlooking the East River, Julian Moretti sat at a long steel table. He was a man in his late fifties, dressed in a flash pinstripe suit, his fingers adorned with heavy gold rings, flanked by eight heavily armed bodyguards holding submachine guns.
The heavy iron doors of the warehouse slid open with a screech of rusted metal.
Damian Vale stepped into the room.
He wore a dark long coat over a charcoal suit, walking with the slow, terrifying confidence of a man who owned the air everyone else was breathing. Beside him walked Adrian.
And beside Adrian walked Atlas.
The Mastiff was magnificent. His coat gleamed in the dim amber light of the warehouse, his chest broad and muscular, wearing a heavy black leather harness. He walked at Damian's heel with disciplined, lethal grace, his dark eyes scanning the room without a single trace of fear.
Julian Moretti’s eyes widened in genuine shock as he saw the dog. His cigar almost slipped from his fingers.
"Vale," Moretti rasped, trying to mask his panic with a greasy smile. "I see your hound made a miraculous recovery. I heard he was on death's door."
"He was," Damian replied smoothly, stopping ten feet from the table. "Until I removed the poisoner from my home. And until I identified the coward who paid him."
Moretti’s smile withered. The four bodyguards behind him subtly shifted their grip on their weapons.
"We came here to talk about the Brooklyn piers, Damian," Moretti spat, leaning forward. "You're taking too much territory. My family built these docks—"
"Your family built nothing," Damian interrupted coldly. "You buy traitors, you bribe guards, and you poison animals because you lack the strength to fight a real war."
Damian raised his hand, signaling Adrian.
Adrian pressed a button on his phone. Instantly, the high industrial monitors on the warehouse wall flickered to life.
On the screens were live security feeds from six of Moretti’s primary distribution hubs across New Jersey, Queens, and Long Island. Federal agents and NYPD tactical units were pouring into every single facility, placing Moretti's top lieutenants in handcuffs and loading crates of contraband onto government trucks.
Moretti slammed his fists onto the steel table, standing up in a rage. "WHAT IS THIS?!"
"That is the sound of your empire ending, Julian," Damian said softly. "While you were waiting for me to arrive tonight, my legal team handed forty gigabytes of encrypted financial records to the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York. Every wire transfer, every bribe, every dock contract you stole over the last decade."
"You son of a bitch!" Moretti roared, reaching for the pistol hidden under his jacket.
Before Moretti's hand could clear his holster, Atlas let out a thunderous, terrifying roar that rattled the corrugated metal walls of the warehouse. The dog didn't lung uncontrollably—he stepped forward two paces, planting his massive paws, his lips pulled back over flashing white teeth, ready to tear through anyone who moved.
The four bodyguards hesitated, paralyzed by the sheer size of the beast and the absolute tactical dominance of Damian's snipers, whose red laser sights suddenly bloomed across Moretti's chest through the high warehouse windows.
"Lower your weapon, Julian," Damian commanded softly. "Or my dog won't leave enough of you for the federal marshals to identify."
Moretti stared at the red dot hovering over his heart, then down at the ferocious gray Mastiff growling two feet from his legs. Slowly, trembling with humiliation and rage, Moretti pulled his hands away from his coat, raising them into the air.
"This isn't over, Vale!" Moretti hissed through his teeth.

"It is over," Damian replied, turning his back on his rival without a second glance. "Atlas, heel."
The Mastiff instantly stopped growling, falling back into step beside Damian as they walked out of the warehouse into the rain, leaving Julian Moretti to the waiting federal agents who were already pulling up outside.
