Chapter 7 - The Trap Cleared

“I wouldn't walk out that door if I were you, Linda,” a loud, commanding voice echoed through the house speakers.

The heavy steel security shutters slammed down over every window and door, sealing the foyer instantly.

A hidden side door opened, and out walked Grandma Evelyn—not in a hospital gown, but wearing a sharp blue blazer, walking steadily with a polished cane, flanked by four federal agents.

Aunt Linda dropped her bag in shock. “Evelyn?! You... you were in a coma!”

“A mild stroke, my dear, but hardly incapacitated,” Grandma said, her voice dripping with authority. “Did you really think I didn't know you were passing company secrets to Victor Vance? I’ve known for five years.”

The armed men raised their weapons, but the federal agents immediately drew theirs. “FBI! Drop your weapons!”

The hired guards surrendered instantly, dropping their arms and kneeling on the marble floor.

Grandma walked over to Linda, looking down at her daughter with profound sorrow. “I gave all of you checks on Christmas to see if anyone had enough humility left to ask me why. Claire was the only one who saw me as a human being, not a piggy bank. You, Richard, and Marcus saw only paper.”

“You set us up!” Linda screamed as the agents handcuffed her. “You ruined our lives!”

“You ruined your own lives the moment you decided greed was worth more than family,” Evelyn replied softly.
