Chapter 10 - A Triumphant Horizon

One year later.
The sun rose warmly over the historic grounds of West Point Military Academy. Hundreds of fresh, young cadets stood in pristine white and grey uniforms, ready to graduate into the armed forces.
Standing at the podium in full dress uniform was Major General Zariah Vance, serving as the keynote speaker for the graduating class.
"True honor," Zariah's voice resonated through the loudspeakers, inspiring thousands of attendees in the stadium, "is not inherited. It cannot be bought with money, hidden behind expensive suits, or proved by tearing others down. Honor is forged in quiet sacrifice, sustained by integrity, and proven when no one is watching."
Applause erupted across the stadium, standing ovations echoing off the stone walls of the historic academy.
Sitting in the front row was Julian, smiling with pride, alongside Dr. Vance and Colonel David Vance. They were her real family—a family built on mutual respect, loyalty, and deep affection.
Far back in the public gallery, dressed in simple attire she had paid for with her own hard-earned wages, sat Chloe. She didn't approach the stage. She didn't call out. She simply watched her sister with quiet respect, tears of genuine gratitude streaming down her cheeks. Chloe had finally learned her lesson, stepping onto her own long path toward self-reliance.
After the ceremony concluded, Zariah walked hand-in-hand with Julian toward the green lawns overlooking the Hudson River.

The wind rustled through the trees, soft and warm. No thrown wine. No cruel laughter. No hidden wounds.
Zariah reached up, touched the silver stars on her collar, and smiled into the bright afternoon sun. She had fought her battles, protected her nation, purged the poison from her life, and finally claimed the happiness she so richly deserved.
