Chapter 8 - A New Horizon

The Geneva International Ethics & Commerce Summit was a resounding triumph.
Julian Marsh’s keynote address on corporate accountability and restorative justice received a standing ovation from economic leaders, diplomats, and business magnates from around the globe. Beside him throughout the weekend was Dileia Brooks, whose grace, intellect, and genuine charm captivated international delegates just as easily as her testimony had won over the court.
The media, which had once hungered for scandal surrounding the Marsh name, now celebrated Julian and Dileia as global symbols of integrity and positive transformation. Magazines featured feature stories on the Brooks Restitution Trust, highlighting Dileia’s groundbreaking work in establishing educational scholarships for underprivileged children.
Upon their return to New York, Julian took a step that surprised even his closest advisors.
He stepped down as Chief Executive Officer of Marsh Global Holdings, transitioning into the role of Chairman of the Board. He appointed a brilliant, highly ethical young executive to run the day-to-day operations, allowing himself to focus entirely on philanthropic endeavors and his personal life.
"You're stepping back at thirty-four?" Ethan Cole asked with a smile as they sat in Julian’s private office at the Greenwich estate.
"I spent my entire life trying to live up to my father's corporate shadow, Ethan," Julian reflected, looking out at the gardens. "I've repaired the past. Now I want to enjoy the present."
Ethan handed Julian a clean leather-bound binder. "Here is the final security audit for the estate renovation. Every room, every wall, every historical panel has been scanned with modern thermal imaging and 3D LIDAR. I can guarantee you with one hundred percent certainty: there are no more secret compartments, hidden safes, or locked doors in Marsh Estate."
Julian laughed warmly, accepting the binder. "Thank you, Ethan. You’ve been more than a security chief through all of this. You’ve been a true friend."
"It was an honor, sir," Ethan said, giving a respectful nod. "Oh, and by the way... the delivery from Paris arrived this morning. It’s in your safe in the bedroom."

Julian’s eyes brightened. "The ring?"
"The ring," Ethan confirmed with a wink.
