Chapter 9 - The Legacy of Love
The wedding of Damian DeLuca and Natalie Carter was held one year later at an exquisite private estate overlooking Lake Michigan.
It was not a mob spectacle filled with underworld bosses and armed bodyguards. It was an intimate, elegant celebration attended by true friends, legitimized business partners, Natalie’s sister Grace—who had just graduated with honors from her community college program—and Mrs. Vance.
Natalie walked down the aisle in a stunning lace gown that trailed softly along the flower-strewn grass.
Standing beside Damian at the altar as the flower girl was Ava. She wore a pale yellow dress, holding a basket of white rose petals, a bright, peaceful smile on her face. She didn't feel overwhelmed by the music or the guests; she felt safe, surrounded by the people who loved her unconditionally.
When Damian and Natalie exchanged their vows, there was not a single dry eye in the crowd.
"I promised you once that entering my world would be dangerous," Damian said, holding Natalie’s hands, his dark eyes shining with tears of absolute joy. "Today, I promise you that my world is yours, and I will spend every remaining day of my life protecting your happiness, your dreams, and your heart."

As the officiant declared them husband and wife, Damian dipped Natalie back and kissed her to the thunderous applause of their loved ones.
