Chapter 4 — The Wrong Kind of Visit

Philip’s face hardened.

“We’re not here for games, Blair. The estate accounts are frozen. We need access—”

I smiled slightly.

“You mean the offshore holdings Thomas never told you about?”

Margaret stiffened.

That was the first real crack.

Because that wasn’t public knowledge.

Not even in the will reading.

Philip stepped forward again, voice rising.

“You think you can shut us out of the Miller legacy?”

I looked at him calmly.

“I don’t think anything.”

A pause.

“I already did it.”

Margaret’s eyes narrowed.

“What did you do?”

I opened the door wider—not inviting them in, but revealing just enough.

Inside the hallway sat a black folder on the table.

Stamped.

Sealed.

Legal authorization code visible even from the doorway.

“The day I gave birth,” I said softly, “I also signed something else.”

Philip laughed bitterly.

“Oh, here we go—”

I continued.

“A full emergency guardianship freeze on all Miller-linked financial structures.”

Silence.

Margaret blinked.

“You… what?”

I nodded.

“Thomas left me secondary authorization in case of sudden death.”

A pause.

“And you two… were listed under ‘financial risk review.’”

Philip went pale.

“That’s impossible.”

I stepped forward just slightly.

“Then explain why your accounts went dark eleven days ago.”

The rain outside hit the porch harder.

Like the world itself was listening now.
