Chapter 9 - The Garden of Remembrance

On a warm Saturday afternoon in spring, Ethan, Noah, Lily, and Rosa stood in the backyard of the mansion.
Together, they had planted a bright garden of white roses—Claire’s favorite flowers—surrounding a wooden bench that Ethan and Noah had hand-crafted together.
Lily placed a hand-painted stone beside the roses that read: Mommy’s Garden.
Noah sat on the bench, looking up at the sky. "Dad?"
"Yes, buddy?"
"Do you think Mom can see us?"
Ethan sat beside him, wrapping an arm around his shoulders while Lily climbed onto his lap.
"I know she can," Ethan said softly. "And I know she’s proud of how strong you and your sister have been."

Rosa walked out onto the lawn, carrying a tray of fresh lemonade and warm biscuits, sitting beside them on the grass.
The sound of laughter echoed across the lawn—bright, uncontrolled, and filled with warmth.
