The grand auditorium at the Lincoln Center in New York was packed with world leaders, prominent scientists, and medical pioneers for the annual Global Health Leadership Gala.
I stood backstage in a stunning emerald green silk gown, my hair styled in soft waves. Beside me stood Ethan, looking impeccably handsome in a tailored tuxedo, holding my hand with gentle strength.
Out in the front row, sitting with my mother and our trusted family nanny, were our triplets—now five years old, well-mannered, smart, and beaming with pride.
"And now," the announcer’s voice echoed across the hall, "the recipient of this year’s Humanitarian Award for Life-Saving Innovation in Technology... Dr. Eleanor Rhodes!"
The auditorium erupted into thunderous applause.
Ethan leaned in, kissing my cheek. "Go get your award, my queen."
I walked out onto the grand stage, bathed in warm, golden spotlights. I stepped up to the podium, looking out at the thousands of faces, but my eyes quickly landed on my family—on Ethan, whose eyes shone with unconditional love, and on my three children, who were waving their tiny hands frantically at me.
I smiled, taking a deep breath.
"When people face immense loss," I spoke into the microphone, my voice clear and resonant, "they are often told that time heals all wounds. But time alone does not heal. What heals us is truth, love, and the courage to rebuild from the ashes."
