Chapter 10 - The Master Handyman

Six months later.
The morning sun rose over a magnificent coastal estate overlooking the sparkling blue expanse of the Pacific Ocean.
The house was breathtaking—a modern masterpiece of stone, glass, and wood, equipped with the most advanced, invisible security grid ever created. It was funded entirely by the reclaimed assets from Victor’s liquidated estate and placed under Emily’s direct ownership.
On the grand wooden deck overlooking the cliffside, a large brunch table was set with fresh flowers, coffee, and fruit.
Emily sat at the head of the table, laughing lightheartedly as she talked with Sarah Sterling and Marcus Kane. She had recently taken over as the Chairwoman of the Vance Foundation for Victim Recovery—a fifty-million-dollar charitable foundation we had established to support victims of domestic extortion and family fraud.
I stepped out onto the deck wearing my old, faded flannel shirt and work boots, carrying a small toolbox.
Emily looked up, her face lighting up with a radiant smile. "Pop! What are you doing with your toolbox on a Sunday morning?"
"The latch on the garden gate was squeaking a bit," I smiled, setting the toolbox down near the table and pouring myself a cup of black coffee. "A good handyman never leaves a job unfinished."
Marcus laughed, raising his coffee cup in a toast. "To the boss. The only multi-millionaire in the country who still fixes his own garden gates."
"And the best father in the world," Emily added softly, stepping around the table and wrapping her arms tightly around my waist, resting her head against my chest.
I wrapped my arms around my daughter, feeling the warmth of her breath, the steady beat of her heart, and the absolute peace that filled the morning air.
The lies were gone. The darkness had been destroyed. The family that had tried to break my daughter had been reduced to dust, while the empire I had built in secret now served to protect her and thousands of others like her.
I looked out over the endless ocean horizon, the warm sun bathing us in golden light.
"How are you feeling, sweetheart?" I asked softly, kissing the top of her head.
Emily looked up at me, her eyes sparkling with pure, unbroken joy.

"I'm happy, Pop," she whispered, her voice filled with complete, beautiful truth. "I'm finally, truly happy."
I smiled, holding her close as the ocean breeze carried our laughter out over the sea. The handyman had finished his work—and his family was safe at last.
