Chapter 10 - Forever Begins Now

Six months later, under a clear blue sky on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, white rose petals covered a long wooden aisle.
A small, intimate gathering of true friends, family, and loved ones sat under floral arches.
At the altar stood Griffin, looking striking in a navy tuxedo. Beside him as best men were no high-powered executives, but rather two little eight-year-old girls in matching lavender dresses, holding baskets of flowers and grinning from ear to ear. Hazel and Iris looked up at their father, proud and beaming.
The soft melody of an acoustic guitar filled the warm afternoon air as Sloan appeared at the top of the aisle.
She looked breathtaking in a simple, elegant ivory silk gown that flowed around her like water. Her hair was swept back, revealing her glowing, radiant face. As her eyes locked onto Griffin, the pain of the past eight years—the fear, the isolation, the emergency room panic—vanished entirely, replaced by the profound, unbreakable truth of their journey.
When she reached the altar, Griffin took both of her hands in his. His hands were warm, strong, and steady.
"Nine years ago, I thought I lost you forever," Griffin said, his vows spoken from the bottom of his heart, bringing tears to the eyes of everyone present. "I spent years building things out of steel and code, thinking success could fill the silence you left behind. But you and our daughters taught me that the only structure that truly matters is the home we build together with love, truth, and forgiveness. I promise to cherish you, protect you, and love you through every storm, for all the days of my life."
Sloan smiled through her tears, squeezing his hands tight.
"Griffin, a collapse brought us back together," Sloan spoke softly, her eyes shining with absolute devotion. "In my darkest moment, when I couldn't stand, you were the voice that reached through the dark. You didn't just save my life—you gave our daughters their father, and you gave me back my heart. I promise to stand by you, trust you, and love you forever."
"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife," the officiant announced with a warm smile. "Griffin, you may kiss your bride."
Griffin didn't hesitate. He pulled Sloan into his arms and dipped her gently, kissing her with a passion and tenderness that sealed their promises forever. The small crowd erupted into joyful applause.

As they straightened up, Hazel and Iris rushed forward, throwing their arms around their parents' waists. Griffin laughed, scooping both of his daughters up into his arms while keeping one arm wrapped securely around Sloan's waist.
Together, the four of them walked back down the aisle into the warm sunlight—a family unbroken, whole, and finally home.
