Chapter 6 - The Boardroom War

"They're trying to force an emergency board meeting for tomorrow morning to vote on removing me as CEO," Griffin said, pacing across Sloan’s master suite that evening. His jacket was off, his sleeves rolled up, revealing the lean muscles of his arms.

Sloan sat up in the plush bed, a laptop on her knees. Her color was returning, and the fire that had once drawn Griffin to her years ago was re-igniting in her eyes.

"Arthur holds twenty-two percent of the voting shares," Sloan stated, analyzing the corporate filings she had been reading. "You hold forty-one percent. If he sways the institutional investors—Vanguard and BlackRock—he can form a fifty-one percent majority with the independent directors to force a vote of no confidence."

Griffin stopped pacing and looked at her, stunned. "You've been studying our capital structure?"

"I'm an architect, Griffin, not an idiot," she said with a faint, wry smile. "I know how to read structural blueprints—whether they're made of steel or equity shares. Arthur used my silence to control you eight years ago. I am not going to let him use my existence to destroy you today."

She swung her legs over the side of the bed, standing up despite Griffin's immediate step forward to steady her.

"What are you doing?" he asked gently.

"I'm coming with you to that board meeting tomorrow," Sloan declared, her jaw set with absolute determination. "It's time your father met the woman he tried to erase."
