Six months later, the final court proceedings concluded. Gregory received a five-year sentence for corporate embezzlement and fraud, stripped of his professional licenses and assets. Ashley, facing civil judgments for corporate espionage, was forced into bankruptcy and community restitution.
On the day Gregory reported to the facility, he requested a brief meeting with Madeline. She agreed to see him one last time in the visitor's center, bringing three-month-old Clara along.

Gregory sat across the acrylic partition, looking broken and aged. "You planned this from the very beginning," he murmured, his voice hollow.
"I didn't plan your greed, Gregory," Madeline said calmly, holding Clara securely in her arms. "I simply stopped protecting you from your own choices. You built your house on sand; I just let the tide come in."
