Chapter 9 - The Final Triumph

"This is an outrage! You have no proof!" Julian shouted, backing away toward the glass windows as two FBI agents moved in to cut off his escape.
"No proof?" I spoke up.
My voice was small, but in the sudden silence of the room, it rang out as clear as a bell.
I unzipped my leather document case, pulled out a thick silver digital storage drive, and handed it directly to Agent Miller.
"This drive contains the full audio and video files recorded by my grandfather's armored car," I said loudly, looking straight at Julian Sterling. "It shows your truck ramming us. It shows your men cutting through our roof. And it contains the phone call my grandfather's security intercepted ten minutes ago where you ordered your men to 'finish the job on the bridge.'"
Julian’s knees buckled. He collapsed back into his chair, his face completely devoid of color.
"Furthermore," Victoria Vance added, dropping a stack of legal documents onto the center of the marble conference table, "I present to the board the legally executed Grandchild Succession Trust. This is Ruby Vance, the biological granddaughter of Nathaniel Graves and the rightful second-in-line heir to sixty percent of Graves Energy voting stock."
The board members looked at me in absolute amazement.
"She... she's Elena's daughter?" Mrs. Gable gasped, tears filling her eyes. "She has Elena's eyes!"
"Yes, she does," Nathaniel said proudly, resting his large hand on my shoulder. "And as the principal trustee, my granddaughter and I hereby exercise our sixty percent majority voting block."
Nathaniel looked down at Arthur Sterling, who was sitting paralyzed in his chair, iron handcuffs already being clicked around his wrinkled wrists by federal agents.
"Arthur Sterling," Nathaniel declared, his voice echoing with absolute finality. "You are hereby stripped of all board positions, your shares are frozen under the Corrupt Organizations Act, and you are banned from stepping foot in Graves Tower for the rest of your natural life."
The senior board members stood up one by one, breaking into thunderous, triumphant applause!

"Get them out of my sight," Nathaniel ordered softly.
The agents dragged Arthur and Julian Sterling out of the boardroom in full view of the corporate world. As Julian passed me, he looked down at my small frame, his eyes filled with bitter, defeated shock—shock that his multi-million-dollar empire had been dismantled not by an army of lawyers, but by an eight-year-old girl he had tried to erase.
