Chapter 10 - The Naming Ceremony

When the triplets turned six months old, we decided to host a special dedication and naming ceremony in our backyard to celebrate their health, their safety, and the incredible community of true friends who had supported us through the storm.
It was a gorgeous autumn Saturday in Nashville. The leaves on the oak trees in our yard had turned brilliant shades of gold and crimson. Strung fairy lights twinkled above the lawn, and long wooden tables were crowded with fresh flowers, delicious food, and framed photographs of our three thriving babies.
Over thirty people attended—Daniel’s family, our wonderful neighbors, pediatric nurses from Vanderbilt who had taken care of me, and close corporate colleagues who had become like family.
My three babies sat in a custom triple-stroller dressed in matching white linen outfits. Ethan and Liam were bouncing happily, babbling loudly at the floating balloons, while little Chloe clutched her favorite plush bear, smiling broadly at everyone who walked by.
Daniel stood at the head of the garden terrace, holding a glass of sparkling cider, and tapped his spoon against the glass to gather everyone’s attention.
The crowd quieted down, turning toward us with warm, loving smiles.
“Thank you, everyone, for being here today,” Daniel began, his voice thick with emotion as his eyes swept over the gathered crowd. “Six months ago, our family went through a valley darker and more terrifying than anything we could have ever prepared for.”
He looked down at me, extending his hand. I stepped up beside him, lacing my fingers securely through his.
“During that storm, my incredible wife showed a courage that I will admire for the rest of my life,” Daniel spoke, his voice vibrating with deep, unreserved devotion. “She protected our children, she broke a cycle of pain, and she built a foundation of absolute love for our home.”
The crowd erupted into soft applause, several of Daniel’s relatives wiping away tears.
“Today,” Daniel continued, turning toward the three strollers, “we aren't just celebrating six months of life. We are dedicating Ethan, Liam, and Chloe to a life filled with joy, freedom, and unconditional love. They will grow up knowing that family isn't defined by blood or obedience—family is defined by those who protect you, respect you, and cherish your existence.”
We raised our glasses in a collective toast, the sound of clinking crystal and joyful laughter echoing through the autumn air.

As our guests began to mingle, Daniel’s sister, Rachel, came over and wrapped us both in a massive hug. “You two are the absolute best parents on the planet,” she beamed, looking down at the babbling triplets. “Look at them! They’re so happy!”
“They have every reason to be,” I smiled, picking up Chloe and pressing a warm kiss against her chubby, sweet-smelling cheek.
