Chapter 10 - The Garden of Renewal

One year later.
The Oakridge Estate had been completely transformed. The dark, oppressing furniture and heavy velvet drapes that Marlene had brought into the house were gone, replaced by bright, open wooden furniture, wide glass windows, and vibrant potted plants.
The sun shone brightly over the newly planted rose garden in the rear courtyard.
I sat on a wooden bench beside Ethan, sipping fresh coffee, watching seven-year-old Lily run through the lawn with a new golden retriever puppy bounding at her heels.
Her laughter floated across the warm summer breeze—a bright, beautiful sound that filled every corner of the home that had once been shadowed by fear.
"She looks just like Clara when she runs like that," Ethan said gently, leaning back against the bench with a soft smile.
"She has her mother's heart," I agreed, setting my coffee cup down. "And her strength."
Lily ran up the steps to the porch, holding a handful of freshly picked yellow roses. She handed one to Ethan and placed one gently into my shirt pocket, hugging my waist tightly.
"What's this for, sweetie?" I smiled, kissing the top of her head.
"For making our home happy again, Dad," Lily said, her bright blue eyes shining with absolute peace and love.

I wrapped my arms around my daughter, holding her close under the warm summer sun.
The darkness that had threatened to destroy our family was gone, shattered forever by the truth. In its place stood a home built on unwavering love, trust, and a future that no shadow could ever touch again.
