CHAPTER 1 Just Hours After I Gave Birth to Our Triplets

Just Hours After I Gave Birth to Our Triplets, My Husband Walked Into My Hospital Room With His Mistress—Then He Demanded I Sign Away Everything

I was still recovering from childbirth when my husband decided to end our marriage.

Our three newborn sons had been in the world for less than a day.

I could barely sit up.

Every breath reminded me of the difficult delivery.

I hadn't slept in over thirty hours.

Then the hospital room door slowly opened.

For one brief moment, I smiled.

I thought Adrian had finally come to meet his sons.

Instead, he entered holding another woman's hand.

She walked beside him wearing flawless makeup, designer heels, and carrying a luxury handbag that probably cost more than my first car.

She looked at me with open disgust.

"So this is the wife."

Adrian chuckled.

"I told you pregnancy wasn't kind to her."

His words landed harder than anything the doctors had done that day.

I searched his face, hoping to find some sign that this was a cruel joke.

There wasn't one.

Without hesitation, he tossed a thick folder onto my hospital blanket.

The papers slid to a stop inches from our sleeping babies.

"Read them."

I slowly opened the folder.

Divorce documents.

Property transfers.

Custody requests.

Every page had already been prepared.

Every signature line highlighted.

"You planned all of this before I gave birth?"

"I planned it months ago."

His answer came without hesitation.

"You just happened to have the babies first."

The woman beside him smiled smugly.

"I told Adrian it was time to stop pretending."

One of my sons let out a tiny cry.

I instinctively reached for him.

Adrian rolled his eyes.

"Don't try to make this emotional."

I looked directly at him.

"You brought your mistress into my hospital room."

"I brought the woman I'm building my future with."

The room fell silent.

Even the machines seemed louder.

A nurse briefly looked through the doorway after hearing raised voices.

Adrian instantly smiled.

"We're fine."

Reluctantly, she continued down the hallway.

The second she disappeared, his expression turned cold again.

"Sign the papers."

I picked up the pen.

Adrian smirked.

He thought he'd already won.

Instead, I quietly placed the pen back on the bed.

"No."

The smile disappeared from his face.

"You really think you're going to fight me?"

"I know I am."

He laughed.

"You don't have a paycheck."

"You don't have savings."

"You have three newborn babies."

"My lawyers will bury you."

I calmly closed the folder.

Then I asked one simple question.

"Did they also tell you I'd be alone?"

For the first time, Adrian hesitated.

Only for a second.

But I noticed.

He grabbed the papers, muttered something under his breath, and stormed out of the room with his mistress following behind.

The moment the door closed, I finally allowed myself to cry.

Not because I was broken.

Because I finally understood exactly who I had married.

A few minutes later, I reached for my phone.

My mother answered immediately.

The moment I heard her voice, I whispered,

"You were right about him."

Silence filled the line.

Then my father picked up.

"The babies?"

"They're healthy."

"And you?"

"I'll survive."

His voice remained calm.

"Good."

"Because tomorrow..."

"...it's his turn to learn who your family really is."

I wiped away my tears and looked at my sons sleeping peacefully beside me.

Adrian believed he'd taken everything from me.

He had no idea he'd just made the biggest mistake of his life.

Within forty-eight hours...

He would be the one with nowhere left to hide.
