Chapter 9 - The Purge of Connecticut

The aftermath of the breach was a systematic dismantling of the Moretti syndicate.
With the evidence recovered from the captured enforcers and the testimony of Toby, the federal task force launched a series of raids across the state, arresting Leo Moretti and thirty of his senior lieutenants on charges of racketeering, attempted kidnapping, and attempted murder.
The Pellagrini estate was repaired, the security systems upgraded to military-grade standards. But the atmosphere inside the house had completely changed.
It was no longer a house of shadows and silence.
On a warm afternoon in late August, the back patio was filled with the sound of laughter. Luca was playing in the shallow end of the pool under the watchful eye of three certified lifeguards and a team of professional security enforcers.
Samantha stood by the infinity edge, wearing a beautiful summer dress, her dark hair blowing in the breeze. She looked out over the sparkling lake, feeling a profound, beautiful sense of peace.
She had survived the storm. She had saved the boy. And in the process, she had found her own freedom.
"Thinking about the windowpanes?" a deep, teasing voice asked.
She turned to find Anthony standing beside her, looking relaxed in a simple polo shirt and trousers, a rare warmth in his eyes.
"No," Samantha smiled, leaning against his chest as his arms wrapped around her waist. "I was thinking about how much I used to hate the silence in this house. Now... it feels like peace."
Anthony kissed her temple, his grip tightening around her. "You brought the life back into this house, Samantha. You taught my son how to laugh, and you taught me how to live."
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, elegant velvet box. He opened it to reveal a stunning, flawless blue diamond ring—the exact color of the pool where she had saved his son.
"I told you once that you were never leaving this estate, Samantha," Anthony whispered, his voice thick with a deep, emotional devotion. "But today... I want to ask you to stay. Not as Luca’s guardian... but as my wife. As the queen of this house."

Samantha looked at the blue diamond, then up into the dark, fierce eyes of the man who had rescued her from her own fragile, lonely life.
"Yes, Anthony," she whispered, her eyes filling with happy tears. "I’m never leaving."
