Chapter 1: The Five-Minute Collapse

The silence that followed my words was suffocating. On the velvet couch, Vanessa let out a sharp, nervous laugh, adjusting her silk dress. "Adrian, look at her. She’s completely delusional. Who is she calling? Her accountant father? Is he going to audit your taxes to death?"
Adrian chuckled, though the laughter didn't quite reach his eyes. There was something in my calm demeanor, despite the blood soaking through the back of my shirt, that made him uneasy. "Hang up the phone, Elena," he snapped, stepping forward to snatch the device from my hand. "The game is over. Pack your things. You’re leaving this house tonight."
"I don't need to hang up," I said, my voice cutting through the room like ice. "He already heard me."
Adrian grabbed my arm, but before he could twist it, his phone in his trouser pocket began to vibrate violently. Then, Vanessa’s phone on the coffee table lit up. Simultaneously, the landline in the hallway began to ring with an eerie, rhythmic persistence.
Adrian frowned, pulling out his phone. The screen showed an urgent notification from his Chief Financial Officer. He swiped to answer. "What is it, Marcus? I told you not to disturb me tonight—"
"Adrian, we’re ruined!" Marcus’s voice was so loud and panicked that it echoed clearly in the quiet hall. "Every single one of Vale Enterprises' bank accounts has been frozen by the Federal Authorities! The Department of Justice just launched a full-scale raid on our headquarters. They have copies of every fake invoice, every shell company transaction through Vanessa’s agency... Adrian, they have everything!"
Adrian’s face drained of color. "What? That’s impossible! Those files were encrypted on a private server!"
"Someone handed them over on a silver platter five minutes ago!" Marcus shouted. "And that's not all. The board of directors just held an emergency vote. You've been removed as CEO. The majority shares were bought out at lightning speed by a multinational conglomerate—Vanguard Holdings!"
Adrian’s phone slipped from his numb fingers, shattering on the marble floor.
Vanessa stood up, her face pale. "Adrian? What's happening? Look at my tablet... my agency's bank accounts... they're all at zero! My assets are frozen!"
Before Adrian could answer, the grand double doors of the estate groaned under a massive force. The heavy locks shattered as a team of men in dark, tailored suits burst into the room. At their head was a man with silver hair, sharp tailored posture, and an aura of absolute power.
My father. Arthur Vance. The man the global financial world called "The Ghost Billionaire."
"Elena," Dad said, his eyes bypassing Adrian entirely, locking onto my bleeding form. The raw fury in his eyes could have burned the estate to the ground. "Your shield has done its job. Now, let your father be your sword."

Adrian stared at my father, his mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water. He recognized Arthur Vance from financial magazines. He looked at me, then at my father, and the horrific truth finally pierced his greedy brain.
"You..." Adrian gasped, his chest heaving. His knees buckled under the sudden, crushing weight of total ruin. He collapsed onto the marble floor, right next to the leather riding crop he had used to strike me.
