Chapter 10 - The True Beginning

Two years after the night that changed everything.

The sun shone brightly over a coastal estate in Maine. There were no five-tier elaborate cakes, no grand invitations sent to media mogul investors, and no high-society cameras.

Just fifty close friends, family members, and survivors who had become sisters.

Emma stood near the edge of the cliff overlooking the crashing waves, wearing a simple, elegant ivory dress. She wasn't standing there to get married—she was standing there to celebrate her thirty-first birthday and the launch of her second global advocacy center.

Her father came up behind her, wrapping his arm around her shoulders. "I remember thinking my heart was going to break forever that night in the ballroom," Arthur said quietly, wiping a tear from his eye. "Now I look at you, and I realize it was just the beginning of your real story."

"I was never broken, Dad," Emma said, turning to hug him tightly. "I was just trapped."

Sarah rushed over, holding a small, simple chocolate cupcake with a single candle burning on top. The crowd gathered around, laughing and clapping.

"Make a wish, Emma!" Sarah cheered.

Emma looked around at the faces surrounding her—Sarah, her father, Clara, David, and dozens of people whose lives had been saved by her courage. She took a deep breath and blew out the flame.

She didn't need to wish for freedom, love, or safety anymore. She had built them all with her own hands.

As the sun set over the ocean, painting the sky in brilliant shades of gold and purple, Emma took a bite of her cake, smiled brightly, and stepped forward into the rest of her life.
