Chapter 10 - A Life of Pure Light

One year later.
The summer sun beamed down on our backyard in Michigan. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming lavender, the sound of waves lapping against the shore, and the joyful sound of laughter.
It was Noah’s second birthday.
The backyard was decorated with colorful balloons, bunting, and a large banner that read: HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY, NOAH!
Dozens of new friends, neighbors, and my loving parents were gathered around the outdoor picnic tables, eating grilled food, drinking fresh lemonade, and celebrating the little boy who had brought so much light into our lives.
Noah, now a healthy, energetic toddler with bright blue eyes and a mop of curly blonde hair, was running across the lush green grass, chasing a golden retriever puppy we had adopted six months ago.
"Look at him go!" my mother laughed, setting down a platter of fresh strawberry cupcakes on the table. "He’s got his mother’s unstoppable spirit."
I laughed, wiping a speck of icing off my finger, feeling a profound, overflowing sense of peace in my heart.
Daniel walked over, wearing a simple linen shirt, holding a video camera to capture every single second of our son's happiness. He set the camera down on the table, wrapped his arm around my waist, and pulled me close.
Noah came running up to us, his tiny hands covered in grass, holding a bright red dandelion he had picked from the lawn.
"For Mommy!" Noah cheered, reaching up his little arms.
I knelt down, taking the tiny flower from his hands, and pulled him into a warm, tight hug, kissing his rosy cheek. His little arms wrapped around my neck, smelling faintly of baby shampoo and fresh sunshine.
There were no toxic secrets in our home anymore. No cutting tongues. No manipulative games or hidden poisons.

We had walked through the deepest, darkest valley of fear and emerged into a world built entirely on love, absolute trust, and fierce protection.
As Noah ran back toward the puppy, his giggles echoing across the sunny yard, I held Daniel’s hand, looked out at the sparkling lake, and knew with absolute certainty that our family was finally, beautifully whole.
