Chapter 10 - The True Kingdom

One year later.
The Duca estate outside Dallas had been completely transformed.
The cold, ostentatious luxury that my mother had favored was gone, replaced by warm wooden architecture, lush flower gardens, vibrant oil paintings, and open glass doors that let the sunlight stream into every room.
The house was no longer a symbol of greed or stolen wealth. It was a haven of warmth, creativity, and love.
On a warm Saturday afternoon, the sprawling back lawn was filled with laughter and music.
We were hosting the annual summer garden party for the Emma Duca Foundation for the Arts, welcoming dozens of young artists, students, and community leaders who had received full scholarships to pursue their dreams.
Emma stood near the newly built glass art studio in the garden, wearing a light linen sun dress, guiding a ten-year-old girl through her first oil painting on a wooden easel. Her hands—now soft, smooth, and healthy—moved with gentle confidence as she showed the little girl how to blend colors.
I walked out from the main house carrying a tray of fresh lemonade, stepping onto the grass.
I paused for a moment, watching my wife.
She looked radiant. Her laughter floated across the sunlit lawn, rich, free, and completely unburdened by the ghosts of her past.
She turned around, caught me looking at her, and gave me a dazzling, beautiful smile that warmed my soul to its core.
She walked over to me, wrapping her arms around my waist and leaning her head against my chest as I set the tray down on a nearby garden table.
"What are you thinking about, Ethan?" she asked softly, looking up into my eyes.
"I was thinking about the day I walked through that back door," I admitted, running my hand gently through her soft dark hair. "How terrifying it was to see you in that kitchen... and how blessed I am to see you here today."
Emma reached up, touching my cheek with her soft hand.
"That day wasn't the end of our story, Ethan," she whispered softly. "It was just the moment the truth set us free."
I leaned down and kissed her lips—a slow, tender kiss that carried all the faith, sacrifices, and unwavering love we had shared since the day we first met.
Out on the lawn, children were laughing, music was playing, and the sun was shining brightly over our home.

The kingdom they had tried to steal was gone.
And in its place, we had built a true home—one rooted in love, truth, and an unbreakable bond that would last forever.
