Chapter 8 - The Falling Dominos

With the physical evidence, the video recordings, the forensic financial audits, and the horrific display in open court, David’s legal team realized they had no defense left.
To avoid a prolonged trial that would guarantee a maximum fifteen-year sentence, David agreed to a mandatory plea bargain.
The terms were brutal, precise, and uncompromising:
Guilty Plea: David pleaded guilty to felony assault and battery, witness intimidation, and grand larceny.
Prison Sentence: He was sentenced to eight years in a state penitentiary without the possibility of early parole for the first five years.
Full Restitution: All seized assets, including his luxury vehicles, foreign accounts, and his share of their real estate, were liquidated and awarded entirely to Maya as restitution for financial fraud and emotional damages.
Permanent Injunction: A lifetime restraining order was issued prohibiting David or any member of his family from coming within 1,000 feet of Maya or me.
