Chapter 17 - The Trap is Set

Ethan stayed behind in the city, working closely with the police to lure Vance out of hiding. He refused to live his life looking over his shoulder, and he refused to let his wife and daughter live in fear.
Using the compromised car tracking device, Ethan’s security team fed Vance false information, implying that Ethan was traveling alone to a remote corporate retreat to handle a simulated crisis.
Vance, blinded by hatred and the collapse of his own financial backing, fell for the trap. He intercepted Ethan’s vehicle at an abandoned warehouse district near the docks, accompanied by two hired thugs.
"It ends here, Carter," Vance shouted, stepping out into the pouring rain with a firearm. "You took everything from me years ago. Now I take your life."
Chapter1 8: Confrontation in the Rain
As Vance stepped closer to the vehicle, the doors flew open, but it wasn't Ethan who stepped out. It was a tactical police unit. Sirens wailed as multiple police cruisers blocked the exits of the warehouse district, illuminating the dark night with flashing red and blue lights.
Ethan stepped out from a secure command vehicle parked a safe distance away, flanked by federal agents.
Vance realized he was completely surrounded. He dropped his weapon, falling to his knees in the mud. Ethan walked up to him, standing over the man who had tried to destroy his family.

"You thought my family made me weak, Richard," Ethan said, looking down at him with cold certainty. "The truth is, they gave me something worth fighting for. You've lost. Permanently."
Vance and his associates were arrested on charges of extortion, stalking, conspiracy, and attempted armed assault, ensuring they would spend decades behind bars.
