In the courtyard of Willowhurst, a young five-year-old boy with sharp blue eyes was practicing fencing with a wooden sword under the watchful eye of an old retired guard.
Julian was strong, intelligent, and fiercely loyal to his mother. He knew nothing of his father, only that his mother was fighting a grand, silent war to reclaim what belonged to them.
"My Lady," Martha stepped out onto the terrace, now dressed in fine gray silk, holding a sealed letter. "The trap is set. Lord Daniel has officially exhausted his lines of credit with the central bank. He has applied for a massive mortgage on Sterling Manor."
Eleanor, sitting at a marble table, took the letter. A cold, breathtaking smile spread across her face.

"The Vance Financial Group, My Lady," Martha replied with a bow. "You now own his debt. Every brick, every acre, every breath he takes on that land belongs to you."
