Chapter 9 - The Restoration
Over the next six months, Aria’s life transformed completely. She moved out of the Montgomery mansion, putting the historic estate on the market and using the proceeds to establish a charitable foundation for young women escaping domestic abuse.
With Ethan’s guidance and Sarah Jenkins's corporate restructuring, Aria took her rightful place as the Executive Chairman of Montgomery Logistics. She didn't stay in the background; she attended every board meeting, met with the warehouse workers, and learned the global supply chain system from the ground up. Victoria’s trial was short and brutal. Faced with undeniable forensic evidence and Harrison’s full confession in exchange for a lighter sentence, Victoria pleaded guilty to all charges. She was sentenced to twelve years in a federal penitentiary, her wealth completely stripped away to pay back the millions she had stolen from Aria’s trust.
On a crisp, clear evening in late autumn, Aria stood on the balcony of her new penthouse apartment in downtown Los Angeles, a glass of white wine in her hand. The city lights stretched out beneath her like a carpet of diamonds.
The door behind her opened, and Ethan walked out onto the balcony. He had discarded his suit jacket, his white shirt sleeves rolled up to his elbows, looking more relaxed than she had ever seen him.
"The quarterly earnings report just cleared," Ethan said, leaning against the balcony railing beside her. "Montgomery Logistics has posted a twenty-two percent increase in net profits since you took over. The market is calling you the new star of the transport industry."
Aria smiled, taking a sip of her wine. "I had a very good teacher."
"You had the instinct, Aria," Ethan corrected gently, his voice low. "I merely provided the platform. You did the work."
They stood in silence for a long moment, the cool evening breeze rustling through her hair. Aria looked at him, realizing how much he had changed her life. He wasn't just the stranger who had opened his car door in the rain; he had become her partner, her protector, and her closest confidant.

"Ethan," she said softly, turning to face him. "We’ve settled all the corporate accounts. We’ve won the war. But you never told me why you really stopped for me that night. You said it wasn't out of charity."
Ethan looked out over the city lights, his expression softening into something raw and deeply human. "Six years ago, my younger sister was caught in a similar situation with an abusive partner. She didn't have the courage to run. She didn't make it out." He turned back to look at Aria, his dark eyes filled with an intense emotion. "When I saw you standing in that rain, looking like you’d used your last miracle, I didn't see an inconvenience. I saw a second chance to save someone who had the bravery to fight back. And watching you win has been the greatest privilege of my life."
