Chapter 10 - The True Meaning of Wealth

Two years later.
The afternoon sun beamed brightly over the green hills of a private estate outside the city. White roses adorned the wooden arches, and a simple string quartet played a soft, beautiful melody.
I stood in front of a full-length mirror inside the bridal suite. I wore a lace wedding dress—not over-the-top or excessively expensive, but classic, elegant, and filled with light.
There was a soft knock at the door. My father stepped in. He wore a crisp, tailored suit—one that was bought for him, fitting his shoulders perfectly. He looked healthy, proud, and happy.
"You look breathtaking, Clara," he said, his voice trembling with emotion.
"Thanks to you and Mom," I replied, holding his hands. "Are you ready?"
"More than ready."
As the music shifted to the bridal entrance, the heavy wooden doors swung open. I took my father's arm and walked down the aisle.
At the end of the aisle stood Marcus. Over the past two years, our professional partnership had grown into a deep, unwavering mutual respect, and eventually, a profound love. He was a man who listened, who respected my independence, and who treated my parents like his own family.
When Marcus saw me, a rare, breathtaking smile broke across his face.
My father gently placed my hand in Marcus's. "Take care of her," my father whispered.
"With my life," Marcus replied firmly.
As we exchanged our vows under the warm summer sky, I looked out at the guests. My mother was crying tears of joy in the front row. My friends were smiling.
There were no mocking laughs, no hidden motives, and no fear.

I had lost a fake fiancé and escaped a poisonous family, but in doing so, I had rebuilt my life on my own terms. I had protected the people I loved, earned my own success, and found a true partner who stood beside me, unshakeable and proud.
As Marcus kissed me to seal our marriage, the crowd erupted into genuine, joyful applause—the only sound that mattered.
