Chapter 9 - A New Dawn

Six months later.

Vance Global acquired the remaining assets of Sterling Financial, turning it into a community-focused investment branch managed directly by me as the newly appointed Managing Director.

With my signing bonus and profit-sharing dividends, I bought my parents a beautiful, spacious home with a lush green garden and a small pond in the backyard. My father finally had a workshop where he could pursue his woodworking hobby, and my mother opened her own organic bakery.

One warm Saturday afternoon, we hosted a housewarming party in their back garden.

There were no snobbish socialites, no diamond-dripping bullies, and no fake smiles. Just genuine friends, neighbors, and colleagues who loved and respected my family for who they were.

Marcus Vance arrived, holding a bouquet of rare orchids for my mother.

"Mr. Vance," my mother smiled warmly, hugging him. "Thank you for coming."

"Please, Mrs. Vance, call me Marcus," he smiled warmly, setting down the flowers. He turned to me, his eyes softening. "You look happy, Clara."

"I am," I said, looking around the garden. My father was laughing near the grill, showing a neighbor one of his carved wooden bowls. My mother was serving fresh pastries. "I really am."
