Chapter 10 - The Gold Coast Union

The following spring, the courtyard of the Hudson Valley estate was transformed into a paradise of white roses and blooming tulips.

A massive white marquee was set up on the lawn, decorated with thousands of twinkling fairy lights. Today, there were no business negotiations, no rival syndicates, and no corporate vipers. There were only seventy guests—the staff of the children's foundation, Leo, Marco, and the few true friends they treasured.

In the bridal suite, Elena stood before the mirror. She wore a breathtaking gown of pure white lace, with a long, flowing train. Around her neck was a simple, elegant silver locket—a gift from Alessandro, containing a picture of the three of them on the day they had truly become a family.

"You look beautiful, Mommy," Mia said, walking into the room. She was now four years old, wearing a matching white flower-girl dress, a crown of roses in her hair, and she was proudly holding a velvet box containing two gold wedding rings.

"You look beautiful too, my little princess," Elena said, kneeling down to hug her daughter tightly.

A knock on the door signaled it was time.

As Elena walked down the aisle, the sweet sound of a harp filling the spring air, she saw him. Alessandro stood at the altar. He wore a sharp black suit, his dark hair neatly brushed, the faint scar on his shoulder hidden beneath his clothes. But his grey eyes were no longer cold or dangerous. They were filled with a profound, overwhelming warmth and devotion that made her breath catch.

When she reached the altar, he took her hands in his, his large palms warm and steady.

"We started this with lies and fear, Elena," Alessandro said, his voice loud and clear, carrying across the lawn. "I lived in the dark for thirty-eight years, trusting no one, waiting for the end. But you and Mia brought light into my world. You gave me a family, a purpose, and a love I never thought I deserved. Today, I promise to protect you, to cherish you, and to love you for the rest of my days."

Tears of pure happiness blurred Elena’s vision. "I do," she whispered.

The priest smiled. "By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."

Alessandro pulled Elena into his arms, lifting her slightly off her feet as he kissed her—a deep, passionate, and beautifully real kiss that signaled the true beginning of their future. The crowd erupted into joyous cheers, Mia clapping enthusiastically at their feet.

As the reception began, Alessandro wrapped his arm around Elena’s waist, pulling her close as they watched Mia running through the grass with her friends, her laughter filling the warm spring air.

"Are you happy, my king?" Elena whispered, resting her head against his chest.

Alessandro looked down into her beautiful eyes, then at the ancient oak tree where their story had truly begun.

"I have never been happier, my queen," Alessandro whispered, kissing her forehead.

Together with Mia, they walked into the sunshine of their new life—no longer trapped by secrets or fear, but bound forever by a love that had conquered the shadows of New York.
