Chapter 7 - The Brooklyn Trap

The Brooklyn docks were silent, the massive crane structures looming over the dark water like sleeping metal giants.
Alessandro’s convoy of three black SUVs pulled up to Pier 42. The headlights cut through the heavy fog, illuminating a dilapidated warehouse at the end of the pier.
Alessandro stepped out of the vehicle, his face a mask of absolute, lethal determination. Behind him, Marco and ten of his most trusted soldiers dragged a bruised and battered Carlo, his hands bound tightly behind his back.
"Moretti!" a voice echoed from inside the warehouse.
Alessandro walked toward the entrance, his hands raised slightly to show he was unarmed, though he had three weapons hidden beneath his tactical gear.
Inside, the warehouse was cavernous and cold. Standing in the center of the room was Victor Lucchese, the ruthless underboss of the Brooklyn syndicate. He was surrounded by a dozen heavily armed guards.
To the side, tied to two wooden chairs, were Elena and Mia. Elena was weeping, her face bruised, while Mia was clutching her ragged teddy bear, her eyes wide with terror as she looked at the guns around her.
"Ah, the great Alessandro Moretti," Victor sneered, stepping forward. "You actually came. I must admit, I was skeptical when Carlo told me you had a soft spot for a servant’s child. I guess the rumors are true—the Moretti family has gone soft."
"Let them go, Victor," Alessandro said, his voice flat and dangerous. "This is between us. You want the docks? I brought the signed deeds." He pulled a thick folder from his coat and tossed it onto the dirty floor.
Victor gestured to one of his men to pick up the folder. The guard flipped through the pages, nodding to Victor. "It’s all here, boss. The entire logistics network is ours."
"Perfect," Victor smiled, pulling a silver pistol from his waistband. "Now, there’s only one thing left to do." He pointed the gun directly at Mia’s head.
"No!" Elena screamed, struggling against her ropes.
Alessandro didn't flinch, but his eyes locked onto Victor with a chilling intensity. "If you pull that trigger, Victor, you will never leave this pier alive. My men have this entire place surrounded. The moment a shot is fired, this warehouse becomes your tomb."
"You're bluffing, Moretti," Victor laughed. "Your family is broken. Your trusted advisor betrayed you. Who do you have left?"
"He has me," a quiet voice said from the shadows.
From behind the crates, a figure stepped out, holding a assault rifle pointed directly at Victor's head.
It was Leo, Camila’s brother, who had once worked as a driver for the Moretti family before going straight. Behind him were twenty heavily armed men from the old faction—men who had remained loyal to the Moretti name even after the syndicate dissolved.
Victor’s smile vanished, his eyes darting around the room as he realized he had been flanked.
"You think I didn't know about Carlo's betrayal, Victor?" Alessandro asked, a dark, victorious smile spreading across his face. "I've been feeding him false information for months. The docks you just 'bought' are already under federal investigation. If you take them, the FBI will arrest you before the week is out."

Carlo gasped, looking at Alessandro in utter horror. "You... you knew?"
"I knew you were a snake, Carlo," Alessandro said coldly. "I just needed you to lead me to the nest."
