Chapter 10 - A New Sunrise

One year later.
The autumn air in Chicago was crisp and cool, painted with vibrant shades of red, gold, and orange.
The grand ballroom of the Drake Hotel was filled with hundreds of guests—prominent doctors, city officials, reformed business associates, and hospital staff. The occasion was two-fold: the official gala opening of the Costello Pediatric Trauma Center, and the celebration of Dominic and Fiona’s first wedding anniversary.
Fiona stood near the balcony, wearing an elegant emerald green evening gown that complemented her warm hazel eyes and soft auburn hair. A delicate gold necklace rested against her collarbone—a gift from Dominic engraved with Arthur's and Dominic's initials.
Dominic walked up behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his chin on her shoulder, breathing in the scent of her lavender perfume.
"You look breathtaking tonight, Mrs. Costello," he whispered into her ear.
Fiona giggled, leaning back against his strong chest. "And you look very handsome for a legitimate logistics tycoon, Mr. Costello."
Dominic chuckled softly, a deep, rich sound that always sent shivers of pleasure down her spine. "Legitimate life agrees with me. Fewer late-night phone calls, better food, and a much better view when I wake up in the morning."
Across the room, Marco—now serving as the head of corporate security for Dominic's shipping firm—was patiently showing a ten-year-old Arthur how to properly fold a pocket square. Arthur was dressed in a sharp little tuxedo, looking like a mini version of his father, his laughter echoing across the ballroom.
"Look at him," Fiona murmured softly, her heart swelling with pride. "He's top of his class, he's playing soccer, and he hasn't had a single nightmare in a year."
"Because he knows his mother is upstairs," Dominic said gently.
Fiona turned in his arms, looking up into his icy blue eyes, which were now filled only with warmth, peace, and adoration.
"I brought you something," Dominic said, pulling a small folded paper from his tuxedo pocket.
"What's this?" Fiona asked, unfolding it.
It was a deed. A official property title for a beautiful beachfront cottage in Cape Cod, written under both their names.
"You mentioned once that you always wanted a place near the ocean where you could hear the waves at night," Dominic said softly, running his thumb over her cheek. "No high walls. No bodyguards. Just us, the sea, and the sunset."
Fiona looked at the document, tears of pure happiness glistening in her eyes. She wrapped her arms around Dominic's neck, pulling him down for a deep, loving kiss right in the middle of the crowded ballroom.
"I love you, Dominic Costello," she whispered against his lips.
"I love you, Fiona," Dominic replied, holding her tight as if he would never let go. "More than life itself."
Out on the balcony, the night sky over Lake Michigan was illuminated by brilliant fireworks celebrating the new hospital wing. The bright lights reflected off the water, painting the night in dazzling colors.

The shadows of the past—the poisons, the betrayals, the dark halls of the old estate—were completely gone, washed away by love, courage, and unconditional trust.
Hand in hand, Dominic, Fiona, and Arthur stepped out onto the balcony together, looking out at the glittering city skyline and the bright, endless future waiting ahead for them.
